Underwater Live Stream Aftershow!

Interestingly, this was recorded BEFORE the sponsor pulled out (we try to record these Aftershows as close to the wrap up of the project as possible, sometimes literally right after the outro!) Thanks guys for being there for us during all this. Feels good to finally send this video out into the world! Anyways, in this Aftershow we talk about:

- Why it was the most expensive project ever
- How we came up with this idea
- Our failed attempt to DIY our own underwater audio
- Behind the scenes of the actual stream
- Behind the scenes on the technology that made this work
- The underwater set idea we abandoned
- Lucky breaks we caught

It was fun hearing all about your various contingencies. It reminded me of when I was a young polliwog, first learning to dive. As a teenager, I was an original member of one of the first specialized Co-Ed Explorer Posts, dedicated to SCUBA (way back, just after they started allowing girls as Explorers). During one of our projects, we discovered something interesting. We built an “Underwater Phone Booth” (an acrylic bubble, anchored to the sea floor), just big enough for two heads to unmask and talk. The discovery was that everyone around us, outside the bubble, could hear us just fine, too. So I then invented an “Underwater Megaphone” that would hold a bubble in front of your mouth so you could talk normally. I even learned how to do it with just my hands. Sometime later, I saw a commercial product that purported to do the same thing. I also learned how to blow “Air Rings” back when nobody thought it was possible. (I’m really old)

Omg its the first time ever that i get emotional while watching a youtube video. It was super EPIC! <3 I have some (¿quick?) questions: Why you didnt do it wirelessly? The box(tm) was almost in the surface so my guess is that water wouldnt absorb the signal..? What happened with the temperature inside? Throwing a bunch of powered technology into a sealed box with no way to dissipate heat sounds like a challenge to me. And the last one: why you didnt use PoE (Power over ethernet)? Thank you guys for this! Im superproud of you!(if that can be a thing :D)
