Hey guys! Thought I'd share one of the *very glamorous* parts of working with sponsors... dealing with 3rd party IP (3PIP). Which we initially thought of as basically logos, but while working on our underwater live stream video we've learned that it's sooooo much more.
That software interface that shows up for a blip, that's kinda blurry already? 3PIP.

The bar code on the side of an Amazon box? 3PIP.

Social media UI that shows up in a screenshot? 3PIP.

The hand-knitted pikachu toy my mom made in the background of our living room? 3PIP.

It's insanely tedious and we've already put days JUST into blurring stuff. It's fine, it's the rules, we've just never been in a situation where so many other types of IP (aside from just tool logos) show up in the video so it was a lot more than expected. But different types of sponsorships require different levels of playing it safe when it comes to this type of stuff.
So if you ever wonder why some logos are taped over or blurred, it's because other sponsors don't want 3PIP showing up in their videos for legal reasons. For example in all future videos starting mid-August, our EOSR camera (that we handhold and shows up in a lot of our shots) has E&K labels over all the logos and we sharpied over the RODE logo on the mic.

Anyways, just thought we'd share this nitty gritty behind the scenes stuff. Wish us luck completing the task... our brains are melting! <3 K
