I never realized just how exposition heavy these first few episodes are. Tbh, I've seen the show and read a few of the books and some of the "who is who and where is where" still makes me pause. Appreciate your reaction... I've never realized just how out of place Lena's outfit is. I hope you enjoy the show.

2025-05-26 02:50:25 +0000 UTCReally enjoyed your reaction! Yeah these first couple of episodes really do throw a lot at you. I explained more on your other post, but I think you are fine continuing subbed. It won't throw as much at you anymore as you are now more familiar with this world.

The one doing the stepping is the same character of whom there is a statue of in the base from which Vladilena Milize works from. Basically, the painting seems to be conveying "This Republic of San Magnolia is crushing us underfoot, turning us into their hollow puppets". Again, this show is filled to the brim with small and cool stuff. If you are interested but not good at catching them all (I personally think you will need to be superhuman to catch them all), you always have the option of watching ctrlaltQQ 's videos on 86, where he points out all the symbolism we all probably missed. Either way, it's gonna be fun

2025-05-25 18:46:57 +0000 UTCRest assured, not all episodes are as exposition-heavy as these two episodes, so I don't think that you will need to switch to the dub. Throughout the rest of the show, most of the exposition will be done in other ways, like the tone or the expressions of the characters, taking a show-don't-tell ideology. Also, you don't need to examine each and every line carefully to follow the show, you will just notice more cool details if you do make an (optional) effort to pay close attention to it. Also, as mentioned by an earlier comment, This show is really rich in symbolism, so if that's your thing, pausing and taking a second to examine background elements will reveal fun details (things like the lighting in living spaces reflecting the mental states of the characters in this episode, and camera cuts to other creatures or background elements).
