Its also fascinating to view the entire two seasons from the perspective of the world around Subaru. Since they only see the perfect runs. Subaru, a foreigner with no knowledge of the world history and culture, randomly meets Emilia and just happens to be at the loot house with plans to save her from Elsa. Subaru then goes to the Roswaal mansion and somehow manages to save the villagers from mabeasts. Subaru makes a big fool of himself in front of everyone at the Royal Capital, proclaiming himself a Knight. But not that much later, Subaru set up and played a part in taking down the White Whale - one of the three Great Mabeasts that has terrorized the world for centuries. A beast that the former Sword Saint (Wilhelm's late wife) couldn't beat. Within the same week.. Subaru personally took down Petelgeuse, the most active and recognized Sin Archbishops of the Witch's Cult. Now AFTER THAT, if we follow the narrative we're currently watching.. Subaru is now attempting to save BOTH the mansion and the Sanctuary. Which must include taking down the Great Rabbit - another Great Mabeast. Looking at Subaru from the perspective of the world.. his resume is looking amazing with some impressive achievements. Mf looks like a messiah jesus christ figure performing miracles lol. He just happens to be at the right place at the right time. Only we (the audience) know the struggle and suffering Subaru goes through to even make those achievements possible 🥲

2025-01-04 22:02:06 +0000 UTCWe should already be aware of Roswaal's central goal (his "wish" as they keep calling it) at this point. I think the anime cut the full breakdown for some reason. Everything Roswaal does is to serve his goal of reviving Echidna. To that end, he intends to kill the Dragon that is the sworn guardian of the Kingdom of Lugunica (the country we are in) and has the covenent with the Royal Family. This intention was mentioned by Roswaal in the anime early Season 1. The Dragon has a covenent with the Royal Family.. which we know mysteriously all died off. Hence why we have the Royal Selection to elect the new ruler. Again this is information given in Season 1. Anyway, THAT is the reason why Roswaal is backing Emilia as her sponsor.. doing everything he can to ensure she wins - all to get close to the Dragon. From my understanding, we don't know the relevance of why killing the Dragon has anything to do with reviving Echidna. So anyway...yeeah Roswaal has been following the words of the book (the Tome of Wisdom) to follow the correct path towards this future he desires. This is also just my interpretation.. but if you think about it in this lens, the last couple of arcs have been carefully manipulated PR stunts to gain supporters for Emilia in order to heighten her chances in winning the Royal Selection. Subaru, someone close to Emilia, has saved the villagers twice now from mabeasts and the Witch Cult. Now having being trapped in the Sanctuary.. Emilia is the one who is saving them and leading the charge to return them back to their home. Imagine the reputation the Emilia Camp would have developed from all this. Again, Roswaal clearly isn't selflessly doing this for Emilia's sake. But as a means to an end for his goal of killing the dragon to revive Echidna (somehow).
