I agree on both counts. I don't see the US using many Naval assets against Mexico, especially as they will likely be deployed back to the Mediterranean in the near future. But drones strikes and special ops? Certainly. Especially with how the CIA's been trending, the White Brigades could be in line for a comeback. As for Greenland, my sense from watching the Belgium FM speak is that Trump is asking for it for a commit to military support in Ukraine. US military support is going to come with a price from here on out. In a certain sense, I see Trump operating like the British did in Angola and Sierra Leone via Executive Outcome. British capitalists put up the money for both countries to hire EO as mercenaries. In exchange, the Brits got natural resources --oil and mines. For Trump to keep NATO afloat, the cost may be an entire country.

I don’t think the military leaders have any interest in attacking a NATO member. As far as Mexico- this is the CIAs playground- still… I think using drone strikes and zero units in Mexico could definitely bring control of the fentanyl industry under US covert control.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think Trump is in any position to execute a multi pronged amphibious assault on a landmass the size of Mexico. Think of how telegraphed the attack on Venezuela was, and how the preparations told us everything we needed to know about the nature of the operation. In this case, it’s a denial of access operation, to prevent the development of the Northwest Passage, particularly Greenland’s offshore oil, without American consent.

The concept of geopolitical global grid war is the natural evolution of Witfogels description of ancient China power politics being focused around control of water in what he called ‘hydraulic despotism’- he who controls the spice… etc. I do believe that if the leaders in the military sign on to an invasion of Greenland- we are fucked. That would be the end of democracy.
