The Ultimate Math Rock And Midwest Emo Arpeggio
Added 2020-03-03 02:40:24 +0000 UTCHey guys, here's a new piece of theory that I've worked out. This is an arpeggio pattern that I think best captures the aesthetics of "pretty" Math Rock and Midwest Emo.
The pattern here focuses on the sound of a MA7Sus2 chord or a MA9 chord without a 3rd. This sound is frequently used as the basis for many open tunings in the midwest emo idiom.
However, I've also included a variant on this arpeggio that adds the 6th degree of the chord to create a sound that could also be heard as a Mi11no5 chord. This added 6th adds a bright "step" which helps give us more harmonic options and it also helps to create an aesthetic that I find is especially common in FACGCE.
Hope it helps!
