I've been rethinking the way I have been doing Patreon and I would like to get any thoughts from you.

Do you think I should switch to monthly charges?

What do you think fare rates would be?

What rewards should I offer?

I don't like haveing to sit on things waiting for the month to end. I'd rather post as I do them.

I'm also considering some changes to the format of the comics, making them smaller being only three to four panels, but also doing longer story arcs. I'm trying to see if I can do pages more quickly this way. I've included to examples attached to this post.

I would really like to hear what everyone has to say and hope to hear from ya'll soon

I like things simple. $10 to $12 per month for all access sounds reasonable. You could create lower tiers if you guage there to be demand. Additional rewards / perks don't really interest me. As it stands your commission rates / process are clean, simple, and fair. I wouldn't change a thing in that regard. I don't have a lot of input as far as your comic format; go where your muse takes you!

Just me musing about rates & tiers: Do you wanna do Patreon exclusive art or is this gonna be an early access deal? $12 (or $15) gets people anything you post (+WIPs, extra versions, B/W inks, whatever). $4 (or $5) gets them only comic pages $1 gives access to early-bird pics that would be going to FA eventually. Maybe also sketches or b/w comic pages to tease what they're missing. Now you could add higher tiers (maybe $20 or $30) that get cameos or discounts or quickie commissions

Sketch or inked commissions as a reward tier could be an idea. Stuff that could be completed relatively quickly, maybe. Discounts on commissions, while appealing, might have logistical issues. Like people temporarily pledging just to get the discount; or lots of commissions (ahem). Maybe payment up front could be a condition. And/or a limit on the # of pieces. Just thinking out loud.

As to comic structure: do whatever u want to tell a story. I personally don't need a minimum or maximum # of panels or pages. Go for it!

I'm in favor of monthly. Structure around current prices? Though maybe still have a 1$ tier as those can add up? For comic structure, if the number of panels doesnt negatively impact the story you want to tell, go for it. I mean, if you're doing monthly you can tell as long or short of a story as you want. Hell, you dont even need to conform to a certain number of pages per month. As for rewards, sketch commissions, background cameos, etc seem to be popular choices. Maybe the ability to suggest pairings/topics/etc? No real control over the story, just what the subject matter for the next arc will be. I know I agonized for forever about mine. Mine is set up sort of like an incentivized tip jar https://www.patreon.com/ArawnNox

Side note: wow I love Shayla here!

I'm going to support you, no matter what the payment changes to, or doesn't change. I know that's not super helpful for the question you were asking, but I just wanted you to know I'm backing you for as long as you do this. One day, there will be art of a giant polar bear and a tiny mouse; you are amazing Shane and I can never thank you enough for creating Shay. But the cameo idea was pretty cool, the other person suggested.

Ryan Boutilier

Specifially regarding rewards: perhaps a suggestion box for new pieces of art. Or maybe cameos in comics. U could structure the tiers to match what people are paying per page anyway.

Elberik

I see. Well I was thinking maybe discounts for commissions for a certain tier. Maybe a monthly raffle stream or cameos in some comics? But I don't mind the ideas with lesser panels for more story Im happy with that. I kinda wanted to know what happened in the initial The HOP comic.
