Shayla and her books

Shayla Abuckcheech is the 18 year old linguistics major that just moved into the HOP. Shayla is the second child and only daughter of Sioux Abuckcheech a solider in the Marine Corp and Abigail Abuckcheech full time mother. The couples first child is a son, Robert Abuckcheech Shayla was raised on the Abuckcheech Painted Desert Reservation. Her family lived deep in the desert leaving Shayla with few neighbors and fewer friends outside of school. As a child she would spend hours reading. Some of her favorite books were the ones her father sent to her from his deployment over seas. She would spend days translating the books so she could read them. When she wasn't engaged in her books she could be found wandering the rock formations near her home having grand adventures with her imaginary friends Ka'cee and Ka'ta-rina. As Shayla grew older she became restless. Her mother had hoped to raise a daughter that would keep with the Abuckcheech traditions, however like her brother, Shayla had received her fathers thirst for adventure. Soon after graduating from High School she headed west to learn what the rest of the world was all about. Fun Facts: Shayla grew up on the Abuckcheech Painted Desert Reservation, an autonomous nation within this country. Any one wishing to visit the reservation must be invited my a native of the tribe and be accompanied by their host at all times. Abuckcheech is the name of the people and they have adopted it as their 'last' name to better assimilate into life outside the reservation. The Abuckcheech colors are; Rose, Fire, Gold, Turquoise, Day Sky, Night Sky and Sunset. The Abuckcheech believe that their gods, the Anasazi created them to bring joy the desert. To do this they were blessed with the colors of the rainbow and thus brought color to the brown and sad landscape of their home. New world explorers named the lands the Abuckcheech called home the "Painted Desert" for it's colorful inhabitants.
