The Calamity of Sacria

The Calamity of Sacria is the most recent major event to happen in Athana, a cataclysmic event happening in central Wigia in early 413aw (Current Campaign year 416aw, Daragaard Setting 821aw), accidently caused by an errant Aasimar by the name of Isaac Ultiodi. The Calamity was the reaction of two planes colliding together, as the Corestone of Earth - the tether connecting the Material Plane and Elemental Plane of Earth was accidently destroyed by the Aasimar, separating the anchor from one plane to the other. The resulting devastation from the astral collision was felt both instantly and long after. The immediate effect caused earth, rock and mountains to slam from the Elemental Plane through the hole the anchor left in its wake. The lingering affects range from mountainous earth elementals roaming Wigia, to the political aspects of disaster recovery and aid being sent. The continuing lack of an anchor between the two planes is causing disruptions across the world with rogue elementals, and seemingly random and devastating holes and gates appearing to the Earth Plane swallowing areas whole.

After immediately destroying the Corestone - all within 60ft got pulled into the Plane of Earth, where Isaac and his party were stuck for almost 3 years unaware of the effects they had caused back on their home world of Athana. 

The largest after effect of the Calamity was the several month period directly after the destruction where mountainous sized earth elementals roamed and destroyed Wigian cities and towns indiscriminently. While Isaac and his group were trapped within the Earth Plane, a handful of these elementals ravaged the countryside. 

Of these Elementals, one simply refered to as 'The Mountain' had began slowly but surely making it's way towards the capitol city of Hertlerid - the largest populus city remaining in Wigia. The Aasimar people and warriors dispatched their entire group of fighting men and women to defend the city, and while successful their people lost a devstating amount of their number. A fact which Isaac learned upon his return 3 years later, causing further guilt and regret in the Aasimar.

After the world had time to settle in the wake of the Calamity, at great loss of life within Wigia, a council of leaders was held in Miskorland on the 13th of Lowsun 413aw, roughly 4 months after the event. This was due to the fact that the fallout of the calamity had rendered Wigia defenseless, and when all aid had been sent from Southern Athana, Acrecia had remained silent. The council was attended by all Kings, Queens and leading figures from each state in Athana, though for some their home was far removed from the calamity, being upon this plane they had felt the consequences of unbound elementals.

Continued effects by 416aw of the Calamity include the creation of new factions, such as the Children of Radiance, an overzealous faction of men and women of all races, paranoid and ruthless to all who do not abide by their views of hating and casting out all users of the arcane. Using the Calamity as an example of meddling in the weave and fabric of the world not to be messed with by mortals. They defer to the magic and divine will of the gods of the Unity, and take a very harsh view on their commandments, ostricizing and punishing those they find using the arcane. By 416aw this group of zealots has a firm grasp on Wigia, and works as a standing militia in almost every city of the country.

Though many true and honest people have joined ranks with the faction, the message of brutality in their teachings and preaches has caused many unsavoury characters and peoples to join the faction in search of ways to better themselves by standing on the tops of others. The fation, though only really present in the effected country of Wigia, has began to to gain traction in the lowlives in other countires within the Sacrian Continent.
