Daragaard: Setting Map

Intro to Daragaard

In the northern continent of Athana; Evris, on the western coast lies Daragaard, a land rich in tradition, culture, and history. Positioned comfortably in the northern hemisphere and sharing its south-eastern border with the nation of Arunias, Daragaard is a realm where the concept of unity is celebrated in its full glory. Unlike other nations, it isn't just one ruler or one capital that defines Daragaard, but a blend of five noble houses, each with its own heritage, echoing the essence of their ancestors, and their decision to work as one.

The Five Noble Houses

1. House Rellek: The half-orcs of House Rellek, with their towering presence and fierce spirit, are the bedrock of Daragaard's military might. Residing in the western flat lands, they ensure no threats, either external or internal, disturb the peace that the land has enjoyed for ages. Their traditions, rich in valor and combat, have produced some of the finest warriors Athana has seen in recent years.
2. House Roheline: These gifted halflings, deeply in tune with nature, are the keepers of Daragaard's fertile plains and abundant forests. Under their care, the nation’s food supply flourishes. Their towns, built amidst sprawling farms and orchards, reflect their love for the land.
3. House Sinkala: With the vast coastline that Daragaard boasts, the humans of House Sinkala have the great responsibility of connecting Daragaard to distant realms. Expert sailors, traders, and fisherfolk, they have built bustling ports and established intricate trade networks, ensuring Daragaard remains influential in international affairs.
4. House Archeus: Amongst the majestic trees, towering mountains and tranquil lakes, the elves of House Archeus have established centres of arcane knowledge. They are the preservers of ancient magic, the scholars penning new spells, and the teachers molding the next generation of mages. Their architectural marvels, built harmoniously with nature, are sought out by many for study and pilgrimage.
5. House Nardaveng: Deep within the frigid mountains of in the north Daragaard, the dwarves of House Nardaveng labor with love. Master blacksmiths, engineers, and miners, they are the heart of Daragaard’s industrial and technological progress. Their underground cities, illuminated with gems and crystals, are a testament to their impeccable craftsmanship.

Monarchy of Khorest

At Daragaard's heart lies the gleaming city of Khorest. More than just a capital, it’s where cultures converge, trade routes intersect, and political decisions are made. The monarch, elected through consensus among the noble houses, reigns from Khorest's grand palace. However, this isn't an autocratic rule. The monarch acts as the realm's guiding star, ensuring harmonious collaboration among the houses and setting a vision for the future.
