GAM399: Night of the Lepus

We searched far and wide for another Easter movie that wasn't just the "torturing Jesus" story again, and this was the closest we could get. Enjoy.

Cute Little Buggers is the tongue-in-cheek version if this. Definitely a fun movie.

Rachel Manente

I feel I must, once again, demand an on air apology to Claxton or Lyles, director and producer of the movie for the incredibly great and unheralded "Night of the Leap Us" pun. It is so good...even better than Brandon's (author) original title "Year of the Angry Rabbits". And when you can improve on that...PURE GOLD! Come on GAM...give them the credit posterity (and literally 1s of fans) demand. If you need proof refer to the original trailer https://youtu.be/AA910vCNRe4

Can we get some background on Eli seeing Heath get mauled by an otter?

That sickeningly in-love powercouple

I would just like to say that, of course, the government was prepared to deal with the giant rabbits. For you see, many years prior, a brave and handsome screenwriter had known about rabbits' evils and tried to warn them of their eventual uprising. Many had laughed at him, mocked him, but when the day of cuddly terror finally came, who was it they turned to in their time of need? That's right! The hunky screenwriter.

OR, it's latin for Rabbit :-/

As an Australian, if they did Night of The Emus, I'd watch it too because those things are a legitimate horror movie villain. They run fast, they have evil little faces and I've been both stalked by one at an open range zoo, and had my mini bus attacked by one when on a primary school excursion. Fucking terrifying. And then, once the emus have been destroyed at the end, they could have one of those "you think all is well but it's not" moments (a la Nightmare on Elm Street), as a Cassowary appears.

I was going to bring up in the patreon episode of dear old dads he says he can take on 7 raccoons. Eli's logic is so flawed

Proud mom of fur babies

Obviously propaganda by big farma...

Man, the prequel to Curse of the Were Rabbit is weird

Miles Greene

does anyone else think this movie actually technically impressive in some regards? like pre-CGI they must have use a lot of camera tricks and model work to make a rabbit look that big

General Contact Unit Problem Child

Dear God you guys missed the entire title. Night of the Lepus (Leap Us) like jumping rabbits. LEEEEEEEEEPUSSSS. Take the hit and admit your crime against the amazing PR guy who named this movie. He MUST be made whole with three atheist sword falling mea culpas.

DeForest Kelly is in this movie. William Shatner was in “Kingdom of the Spiders”. Leonard Nimoy was in “Them!” (giant ants). I wonder if James Doohan or George Takei were in any killer animal movies.

Oh boy you guys, if you think electrifying rabbits is bad, wait til you hear what they do to coyotes. Wildlife "management' is a brutal business.

Lugubrious Pixie Nightmare

My first thought too. Anya being terrified of bunnies was one of the best running jokes in the show! https://youtu.be/ZPJ_1f58cqc

Eli said on Dear Old Dads a few months ago that he thought he could win in a fight with a bear, and as utterly ridiculous as that seemed at the time, it seems even more insane having now heard him say that he thinks he could only take on 3 rabbits.

Watership Down meets Critters? I’m in.

Jme Simard

do not feed rabbits carrots, it is to sweet for them, they get sick and die

Rabbits are evil.

CarrieBoo

Rabbits. If you eat too much rabbit meat, you could get protein poisoning. They are also full of parasites. I am allergic to both the dander and the meat, and would happily dispose of many rabbits! But they are super cute!

Annika Peterson

Just listening to Heath laughing about unleashing rabbit covid on the bunny horde - Australia tried that a few times (calicivirus and myxomatosis). Didn’t work. Not completely. We also tried a fence… didn’t work. Maybe the movie has some good ideas is all I’m saying!

Cranky Aunty

The guys need to know, bunny growls can be quite frightening. At first, if you've never heard it before. We had one that would try to nest in the Xmas tree skirt every year and if you tried to straighten it out she would promise to eviscerate you where you stand in rabbitese. That little thing taught me how vicious bunnies can be. Fun pets, though. A lot like cats.

Pterrorsaurus hex

Okay Heath had his pun dial turned up to 11 for this one and I loved it

In my experience, Pug bites are most similar to muppet bites, definitely less painful than bunny bites

Amy Hernandez

"Hoppitude" I LOVE THIS WORD! 🤣🤣🤣

LadyAJ

All I can think of is Anya from Buffy the Vampire Slayer singing “Bunnies, bunnies, it must be BUNNIES” in the ep Once More with Feeling.

Turanga Leela

I think the makers of "The Beaster Bunny" thought "Night Of The Lepus" didn't go far enough.

I've still got a scar on my left hand from volunteering at a rabbit shelter. I'd choose pug bites over rabbit bites all day every day. Sidenote: If you want a pet rabbit, adopt. You'll get one already fixed for cheaper, and old enough that you'll be able to reckon their personality.

Moriar

Also, they obviously forgot the way to beat killer rabbits; the holy hand grenade of Antioch. I would love a christian movie pulling from the Book of Armaments!

Dahak

If I was choosing what I wanted to be bit by I'm gonna pick a small frog. Rabbits still have big rodent teeth and will hurt way more than getting gummed by a frog!

Dahak

Rabbit Kumite!

Claire from Paris

When I told my spouse that y'all were doing "Night of the Lepus," they cackled with laughter. I said I'd never seen it. They immediately found it streaming and said, "We're watching this tonight, so we can listen to GAM together." Thanks in advance for the two date nights in a row!

Julie LaVoice

If Heath can take out a Rabbit every 3 seconds, he’d need 2 1/2 hours for Bunny Armageddon. That’s a long time to Ka-Ra-Te.
