GAM Bonus 65: Santa Conquers the Martians

We don't quite have this week's episode ready for you, but hopefully this month's bonus episode will tide you over. Enjoy ... we sure didn't.

Like probably everyone else, the only way I’ve seen this was because of MST3K, although I think my mother may have seen this thing when it was new. Also, Voldar’s mustache is the best part of the movie. That and the Werner Von Braun joke.

Matt

I used to have the DVD for this. My mom bought it for me after she found it in the discount bin. No lie, S-a-n-t-a-c-l-a-u-s plays through my head pretty often

Zach Van Stanley

Very late, but Santa smoked a pipe in “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas”

Very

But if you go by the copyright dates in the movies themselves, Rudolph was first as it was copyrighted in the 12th century (MCLXIV). :)

Niamh Coghlan

Challenge accepted, did the nasty with “Hooray for Santa Clause”. Playing throughout the house. Very festive?

Kenneth Afteryou Bauer

With all the Martian "___mar" names in this, how did you guys not make a "Weimar" joke? Was there one and I missed it?

Al Yako

The subtheme of Santa wanting everything to end, reminds me of Neil Gaiman's brilliant 'Nicolas Was...' https://ramblingatthebridgehead.wordpress.com/2017/12/24/nicholas-was-by-neil-gaiman/

Kristjan Wager

It was a lateral, Noah! 😜

Nashjillian

Talking about unsafe toys for kids, look up the gas powered pogo stick!

Dahak

Kimar and Momar are King Martian and Mom Martian, to really drive home the excellent naming conventions.

Denise Huston

I think I've seen this movie riffed more than any other. MST3K, Rifftrax, Cinematic Titanic, now GAM. All unique and funny as hell.

Renee Y Bisel

Because of MST3K, this is the SECOND GAM movie I've actually seen.

Vincent Jorgensen

Eli manages yet another *perfect* pop-culture reference. THAT LAUGH

MutatedWisdom

Hey Brian is back!

Amanda McGuirt

An American Carol will be out on Tuesday.

Tim, Yes that Tim - the social media guy

YESSSS!!!! I'm so excited!

potato potato also another potato

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians was released November 14, 1964 beating Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer December 6, 1964 for portrayal of Mrs. Santa Claus. (I was 12 then.)

Scott Lesch

I am so happy.

Thomas J McMullan

How did you guys end up on that one? I was sure the votes were going for An American Carol or Love Actually.

Mark H

Treading on MST3K turf.....RESPECT

Leslie Marchant

The bare fact that this movie exists makes me so happy! (I'm also happy I didn't have to watch it.) Thanks, y'all.
