Because their mecha/fight scene footage source reboots every year with a completely new story and motif. So they had run out of archived footage from Dairanger and needed to explain why everything in season 3 looks different now that Ninja Sentai Kakuranger footage was being used.

My brother and I both got some of it and it stained everything! I'm pretty sure we had to throw some of our clothes away because the purple would not come out. I'm guessing he's a very antic talker and would have to be taped to the chair, which could create a whole other set of complications. Great episode! I'm so glad that I'm old enough that very few of my childhood cartoons make it into movie form (although, seriously, I could watch a live action version of the Herculoids).
