I think it's reasonable to treat disability the same as gender, sexuality, or ethnicity. It's something I had to work on cleaning out of my repertoire too, to stop using various forms of '-tard' when someone was being willfully ignorant. Some insults do collateral damage, so maybe we should try to aim a bit more carefully.

While my disabilities affect my vision and mobility, it still sucks to see/hear others being made fun of for disabilities. That's as much out of our control as skin color or gender. Also, there's a friend of mine who is deaf - she's from Hickory, NC, the host town for ReasonCon in 2014 & 15 - and I guess it also bothered me on her behalf.
