More often than not, they consider magic as anathema to the divine, for such power should not be wielded by mortal hands. Inquisitorial Penitents are former witches, persecuted and excruciatingly converted by those they now serve as living weapons. Their connection to the arcane has been perverted, the flow of magic reversed, as they now syphon arcane energies from others with their mere presence. They stalk the lands in packs, travel as independent operatives or are part of an inquisitorial retinue, acting as both bodyguards and executioners. The most dangerous penitents, however, are those who underwent the purifications voluntarily, eager to shed the taint of witchcraft. They are the most unforgiving and zealous of their kind, hunting their tainted kin without mercy or remorse."
