Monster of the Week: Emoto

Bannock's Guide to the Monsters of Mejina

   Emoto

OKAY, where do I even start with these.

I think Emotos are a "monster" entry not because they're a threat, but because they're creepy as all get-out. They look like they'll eat ya and they just... don't.

Now, because the picture doesn't have anything for scale, I just need to get across how BIG these things are. These gearbox egg nightmares are FOUR METRES TALL. So if you wanna laugh at a Guildie for nearly pissing themself when one of these things starts barelling toward them giggling, don't. You would too.

Now, even though they look like they'd be Legendary in Intimidation, Emotos are harmless. Or, well, we're PRETTY sure they're harmless. They'll get violent in self defense, but their "attacks" are mainly whining at you and rolling into you. And while yes they're tall, they don't weigh a lot.

I guess there's one thing to watch out for; these things can make the area nearby completely dark. Can't be lit up magically, either. It can be handy in some situations, but given that Emotos only do this randomly, you can't exactly bet on it.

So Bannock, I hear you asking. If they're not a threat, why do I need to avoid them? BECAUSE THEY'RE DAMN ANNOYING IS WHY. The second an Emoto lays eyes on you it makes this awful little laugh and starts following you around, asking for food and drink, commenting on the weather. They don't even eat the damn food when you give it to them.

This is you warning. For your own peace of mind, if you see one of these, turn around and walk away. And for the love of Akern, DON'T BRING THEM BACK TO THE GUILD.

Stahl's Notes:

We dont actually know where the Emoto came from despite multiple attempts to discover the nature of their origin, they simply seem to be native to this world. According to the Logunn and their historical records, the Emoto first appeared over 3000 years ago following a strange astrological event. We do not know anything further.

I do know however that they make excellent nutcrackers. Just pop a few hundred pecans into a bag, put it in their mouth and "feed" it but since it doesnt eat it just, breaks the nuts harmlessly open and off you go.
