Trust me it will only get better. The brilliant part about this show is that at the beginning of Season 1, Dexter is essentially a blank slate. An almost non-human (as he described himself as well). And all the situations that happen during this show (mostly) they happen to Dexter (the serial killer - that's the hook) for the first time. Season 1 - was first time in an intimate (not necessarily sexual) situation, first time vulnerable (with his brother and the memories etc). Now in season 2 we give Dexter the first person (besides Harry) who just might understand or even know Dexter, and first investigation into his past, etc. And every new season (It's not a spoiler but something to look forward to) will put Dexter in firsts (first something, first something else, etc) Which makes it incredibly compelling. Especially since with each passing season we get that blank slate which is Dexter, more filled with experiences and situations that makes his character progress. Trust me, it will only get better and crazier from now on.
