The issue with covering Canadian content
Added 2017-06-08 22:47:33 +0000 UTCCanada has terrible copyright laws. If I use video from a Canadian source, it's practically inevitable that I won't earn revenue from it, and even worse, the entire revenue goes to the holder of the clip.
You can see the most recent video on Justin Trudeau has been demonized because the clip I use is from the CBC. It's an issue I haven't had with American or British content.

Audio will still get caught up in it but I could read quotes. But in some cases it loses the effectiveness. The other Trudeau story I had was about a health worker confronting Trudeau with a tough question during a town hall; just wouldn't have the same weight if I were to read the quotes. But yeah, for other Canadian stories that's what I'm going to have to do.
