Added 2022-04-16 21:25:10 +0000 UTCIf you've played Fallout 4 for any length of time, you've seen all the radios. Radios on desks. Radios on walls. Radios on the floor. Even the occasional ham radio shoved in a corner somewhere, desperately seeking out the slightest signal that might suggest another living soul in a Boston bunker somewhere.
Squawk Boxes transforms almost all of them into snitches, waiting for you to get within range to start attracting the attention of enemy NPCs.
If a radio or ham radio is already on, or if you turn it on, the radio will now broadcast periodic detection events that will alert and attract enemy NPCs. This only happens when the player is within a configurable range of the radio, and you can change all of the radio behaviors (range, broadcast strength, etc.) in MCM. This basically turns all of the Fallout 4 radios into proximity-based equivalents of the monkey cymbal traps.
