I just joined, and I skipped ahead just to watch the stunning scene at the end of this episode. I love this episode. Every second of the scene at the end with Gemma was perfect. Katie's delivery, the music, Clay, Jax, and Tara's reactions, all of it was perfect. Oof. The way I see it, yes, she did pick her moment and tell them so her family and the club would stay together, but I always saw it as more than just a manipulation. She put aside her own feelings, her own pain, her fear of what Clay would think ("Men need to own their pussy.") in order to open the vein and protect her family and the club. Clay's reaction here, in part, is why in episode 4x10, when he beats Gemma doesn't work for me. The way Clay has been shown up to now, tells us he has lines even he will not cross, and although he can be dark and even cold, he would never have beat his wife. It's a horrible, horrible misstep on the part of the writers and ruined the character for me. I am usually able to accept an astounding amount of things when it comes to characters doing bad things for the sake of story, saying that this is simply where the story is going, but that felt like character assassination to me. Still, looking forward to getting into this series with you, Greywolf.
