Vinland Saga - 1x24 - Full Length Reaction
Added 2025-06-08 16:12:09 +0000 UTCFULL LENGTH VERSION of Vinland Saga Season 1 Finale!
Also, editing error the video starts at 3:50, I apologize!
Sorry again for the delay and also the audio! Wanted to try out these mics to see if they get rid of background noise but unfortunately, even when turning down the audio gain, they still don't sound good. The next time we film, we will not be using them lol.

The best final episode of a season ever and it was just the prologue.

2025-06-12 16:35:01 +0000 UTCIf you remember earlier in the show the other Welsh characters recognised his mother, Lydia, as the last full-blooded Welsh descendant of Artorius. Askellad is right in the sense that, if the Welsh consider Artorius the last true king, he is the rightful ruler.

2025-06-11 14:51:38 +0000 UTCThe first time I watched this Askeladd asking Thorfinn what he was going to do with his life now hit me like a ton of bricks. Much like Thorfinn I also had not given it any thought. The writing on this show is a cut above most anime. All of the characters are great but Askeladd is a real standout in all of anime. It's incredible how they make you feel really sad about the passing of a guy who is an objectively terrible person.

2025-06-09 08:22:25 +0000 UTCThere was no set plan. Canute just understood what Askelad was doing. He realized by Askelad killing the king and then Canute “saving everyone” by killing Askelad it sets up the stage for Canute to assume the role of the commander of the army in Britannia. They didn’t have this planned out. It was done on the spot. Canute was just smart.

2025-06-09 04:57:26 +0000 UTCWhat an incredible episode. Askeladd goes out in the most badass and noble way imaginable, by saving Wales and crowning Canute at the same time. And Thorfinn watching him die and the background going all white, like he is losing a father for the second time, breaks me every time. I absolutely LOVE Season 1 but Season 2 is probably my favorite season of any TV show ever. It legitimately changed how I look at myself and how I approach my relationships. Can't wait to see your reactions to it.

2025-06-08 17:29:53 +0000 UTCThat was the plan askellad made in that instance. He knew he would die as soon as he killed the king but that was the only way to save canute and Wales. Canute picked up on that that's why he was surprised that askellad killed his dad but knew what askellad was doing as soon as he did. The was no way askellad was leaving that situation alive so canute had to be the one to kill him because it gave him the power to become king as now people would see him as the man who personally avenged the king and killed the "crazy" askellad. Thorkells line "this moment on stage was created for you" was a very good line because it's true, askellad created this moment for canute by sacrificing himself and killing the king.

2025-06-08 17:13:00 +0000 UTCBriefly Explaining this Episode: Beheading the king in this episode was completely improvised by Askeladd in result of the king coincidentally wanting to go to war with Wales. After beheading the king he gives Canute a look, and Canute being pretty smart-- picks up on what Askeladd has improvised. That's why Canute was initially surprised, but got with the program fast. Canute also initially wanted Thorkell to kill Askeladd but Throkell told Canute "a master should handle his own dog", meaning he thought Canute should be the one to put him down. Also to clear the air with Wales, it was a total coincidence and they only picked up on the fact it effected Askeladd cos of the stunned face he made in episode 23. All in all, Askeladd saved Canute and Wales by killing the king, and sacrificing his own life. rip goat. :(

2025-06-08 17:04:10 +0000 UTCNo one—not Canute, not Askeladd, not even Thorkell—anticipated that the king would suddenly declare war on Wales. So when the king quietly gave Askeladd an ultimatum—either save Wales or save Canute—Askeladd made a drastic choice. To protect his homeland, the place where his mother was born, he killed the king and took full responsibility for it, hoping that Canute would spare Wales in the aftermath. Eventually, Canute understood Askeladd's intention. To maintain public trust and distance himself from the assassination—since Askeladd had been under his command—Canute ordered the guards to kill Askeladd on the spot to convince the public that Canute had no part in the king’s murder. In the end, this was the only path forward—for Wales, for Canute’s legitimacy, and for the larger political game at hand
