He never points to that being the reason for his actions, people just say that as a way to justify his actions, even though he wouldn't know that. The preventative attack was never going to happen if not for eren and zeke coordinating it too. People don't understand this but Marley would have been scrwed if Eren hadn't attacked Liberio and basically got the entire world on their side, before that everyone hated Marley. That was the whole point of Willy being a martyr and sacrificing all the civilians of liberio. How you framed it was incorrect, the idea he is only doing this because the entire world declared war on them isn't in his thought process. He sees it as a way to save his friends. You didn't have to bring up Marley declaring war, since that isn't even how Eren sees it, he was going to attack Liberio before even hearing the declaration.

There is more reason to why he's doing what he's doing, but that won't be revealed until the very last episode. I was simply giving some context (that was already revealed by past episodes) as to Erens reasons. Yes, he always intended on attacking Marley. Because the age of Titans was coming to an end (as discussed in early season 4), and the threat of Titans and the Rumbling was the only thing keeping Paradise safe. In addition, with the knowledge that the founding titan was now held by a "terrorist" (as Marley saw Eren) instead of the royal family (who couldn't activate the rumbling anyway because of the vow), they now had a reason to launch a preventative attack. It would've worked too, if Eren hadn't seen it all happen because of the Attack Titans power. I was just helping the viewers here with some of the reasons why Eren did this since they were focused on the interaction with Mikasa. From Eren's point of view (and from the VIEWERS point of view at this point of the story), Eren is doing it protect his friends and Paradise Island. That's literally what he says near the end of this episode.

Who cares if they would hate them, sure some would carry that hate but most would get over it and find a way to work with them, it's a better alternative than death.

Your taking out context of the person who said it and why they would. It does not apply to the rumbling. And Eren never says this. The whole point of the plot moving forward is done by Zeke and Eren manipulating events, like Zeke insisting on getting the founder and bringing the tybers in to it. Eren never factors the idea of them being able to counter the rumbling in the future.

Also what would that mean? Freeing the eldian’s from the interment zone? That would mean needing to fight and kill more people to release them. It would only double down on the fact that eldians are evil

Eren and the Jaegarists are essentially choosing to protect the people they love and know. They are not objectively wrong or right. Remember, war was inevitable the moment Willy Tybur made the 'Declaration of War' against Paradis Island. Marley and the Global Alliance were prepared to destroy Eren's friends and famlty.

People also miss that the entire point of the declaration of war was to get every other country's hate off Marley and focus on Paradise, if Eren didn't attack, Willy's speech wouldn't have mattered since people would still hate Marley. Also, Eren hearing Willy's speech didn't matter either he had plan to attack during the speech anyways, he didn't make his mind up in that moment.

Also the founder's power is insane even if they were to drop a nuke they would have to make sure they kill all of the colossals or the founder. If not he could just release them or create more colossal and it becomes a MAD situation. No country would risk it. For it to reach that point anyways where Paradise gets nuked, they would have to play their cards so badly that they don't create any opportunities or change the world's stance on Paradise. Also, there is the 50-year plan, which eren rejects.

He could even overthrow Marley and restore some of the land they took to carry more favor with other countries. Like they have options, but Eren wanted this.

Bringing up what he heard in the meeting is irrelevant; he was already set on doing the full rumbling. They had another option of the 50-year plan but didn't want to sacrifice Historia. The 50-year plan was a way to get peace and force cooperation through a partial rumbling but the scouts wanted to find a peaceful way to negotiate. Eren wished to wipe out the rest of the world, he made his plans clear to Floch and Historia before he even left the island.

We have all had our crazy theories before with this show. As for the moment between Eren and Mikasa, it wasnt about her rejecting him romantically, but more about how no one could give him a different solution for their future. Remember, Eren knew how all of this was going to end the moment he kissed Historia's hand 4 years ago. He knew all their attempts to talk to Marley peacefully or to deter them from attacking the island were probably going to fail. Yet, you can see him trying several times throughout the season to find a better way than the rumbling. But the best he ever got was Zeke's plan. And when he asks Hange if she had a better way to save the island she couldnt give him an answer; she even mentions how she failed to give Eren any other solution in episode 4x25. Armin wanted to talk to Marley and show them how the island wanted peace but Eren knew that as long as Eldians could turn into titans the world would always be afraid of them, and for good reason too. This episode showed how he gave Armin's plan a chance by going to the assembly to see if they would really listen; only to hear that even the Eldians in Marley wanted to destroy the island too. Remember, Eren attacked Liberio literally one second after Wiley declared war on the island because he knew there was only one way things were going to end. Eren literally waited until the last second to find a different way until he ultimately committed to the path that would lead to the rumbling. The moment between Eren and Mikasa, I believe, was the last attempt he made to try and change the future by putting the decision in Mikasa's hands. But poor Mikasa was caught off guard and chose the safe answer, and just like that the moment was over. The decision made and the die cast. Even the music since season 1 has been asking the question: is this our fate or is it our will? Maybe if the founding titan had ended up in the hands of someone like Armin or Hange then things would have turned out different. But only someone like Eren would choose to destroy the world. Reiner was exactly right when he said the worst person to have that power was Eren.

2024-11-23 04:11:13 +0000 UTCA good thing to keep in mind though is that of we comcompare the shows historical setting it aligns roughly somewhere between the firstt and second world war, heck they just finished they first one this season. So if the technological development of AOT matches that of the real world they would soon invent the nuclear bomb, at that point technology will surpass that of the titans completely, so the Island and everyone Eren cares about wouldn't stand a chance in a conflict. So removing this issue is a race against time, and Eren believes they are going to lose. That's a big reason for why he is doing this now. He loves his friends and would sacrifice the whole world for their safety and future.

The notion that Eren's decision was based on rejection is just wrong. Of which it's always been Mikasa who has been showing her affection toward Eren through her acts of devotion. Heck we saw as much at the end of Season 2 when she sees Eren having a mental break down and then starts crying, because she can't protect him due to her broken ribs, and thanks him for wrapping the scarf around her. In fact, the reason Mikasa's hair gets shorter with each season is because Eren told her to cut her hair at the start of Season 1 when they joined the Scouts. Mikasa's devotion to Eren also why Jean is so jealous of Eren because he knows that he cant compete with him even though Jean likes Mikasa. Furthermore, Zeke points this out as well in their conversation, where he dismisses the theory about her being "hardwired" to protect him, and says, "I think she likes you enough to rip apart Titans for you". Ultimately, one could say up to now that Eren's choice was clearly based upon his desire to protect his friends and the people of Paradis. Based upon him not seeing any other viable solution to stop the blood shed that was going to be directed at them eventually if he did nothing. That's why he walked out of the Eldian Protection Society's meeting and went rogue because even that group was throwing the people of Paradis under the bus. P.S. This isn't even factoring the anxiety and fear he was probably feeling about the reality of him only having 4 years to live but also not knowing what would happen to Mikasa, Armin, and the gang after his death in regards to, again, the entire world prepping to come over and genocide everyone on the island.

I think it might of detered any other country wanting to go up against Eren. That is probably what I would have done if I was in eren’s shoes. But, I totally sympathize and get why Eren is doing what he is doing but like Hange said, it doesn’t condone complete genicide. That’s just my take on it tho!

The last two episodes are just fantastic. It'll clear a lot up. The song that starts up (WMId) once the titans come out of the water, we've heard numerous times since season 1 (often in inspirational/optimistic moments). It is sung in German (as is another song, "T:T" - which is even more of a banger), but here is the English translation for the part played in this episode: Is this the destroyer or the creator? With the blaze of hatred, we swing the swords Is this our fate, or is it our will? We will fight until this hot wind takes our wings We go out of the small wall into the big world beyond Our hearts beat violently with joy or fear What will we find beyond this horizon? I highly recommend checking out the youtube video "Attack on Titan Suite" once you complete the series if you want a chilling nostalgic musical experience of this series. If you wanna do a reaction video to it, that'd be chill, but either way just check it out. Purely spectacular to say the least. You're in the homestretch now. We're almost there. Don't cry too much. I'm so ready for it.

If anything the majority of the show it is unrequited love on his end (Mikasa going for a kiss at the end of season 2 for example). In the timeline he asks what he is to her and then the interaction with him and Zeke happens after where Zeke picks apart the notion of her being forced. He literally tells Eren she acts that way because she is in love with him and this is all before they are reunited after the attack on Liberio. So he fully knows she loves him, none of this has to do with unrequited love or anything to do with sex. He is doing all of this to protect her and his friends as that's the only way he sees them able to live a long and happy life. Even when Zeke asks Eren what he is going to do knowing that this girl loves him, his response is basically "I will die soon, all I care about is protecting them." So later on when he tells Mikasa she is programmed that way b/c of her blood, he is lying to her to push her away. This story has alot of themes but some type of incel/I didn't get laid anger type thing isn't one of them.

2024-11-22 20:58:31 +0000 UTCThe full circle moment @9:46 is one of the saddest and most horrifyingly beautiful writing moments I've ever seen, if not THE MOST. Especially with the soundtrack hitting it's peak right at that moment too. Literally everything from the writing, to the music, to the story, to the character build-up crescendos at this point. TT____TT I highly doubt that this is all because of those petty reasons listed LOL. I think Eren's just trying to find any reason to NOT do what he is about to do or testing to see if what happens is what he has forseen in his "Memories of the future." Saddest part was the joy that the whole crew got to enjoy before everything went to poop. In my head I was like, "This is AoT! Why are we getting happy scenes!!"

He vowed to “wipe them all out,” which is what the flashback scenes in the last minute were showing. All this goes back to that day when Eren watched his mother get eaten, the dye was cast from the beginning.

He's doing what he's doing because in his mind, it's the only way to protect his friends and Paradise Island. Either the world wipes out Paradise, or he wipes out the world.
