Something to keep in mind about “your questions being answered” is that it is true. But it is also rarely explicit. I’ve been highly critical of AoT but one thing I really appreciate about it is that it trusts its audience to have been paying attention, to have kept track of and remembered what’s going on. Like, for example—the thing with the writing on the can between Reiner and Ymir (the only Ymir moment I like—I will use every opportunity to mention I am an Ymir hater). That incident is never mentioned again, as far as I remember. However, as we learn more about Reiner, and learn more about Ymir, we can figure out what the deal was with that interaction; why each of them had the reaction they did to each other. That’s the way a lot of questions are answered. Not directly or outright, but by giving you information and trusting you as an audience member to connect it to what you’ve seen before. This, I think, is why people have been so insistent on you guys not having side conversations or using your phones; the fact that this is in another language means splitting your attention will result in missing the information the show gives you that allows you to put things together, something that has already happened a few times (though a good deal of this is simply because anime fans have no chill and want to tell you what’s going on before you see it). There haven’t been any huge questions answered since Annie though, I’d say, and dominoes don’t really start falling again until the back half of season 2 and then for real during season 3.

"Soldier" and "Warrior" sound basically synonymous to us, just means a dude who fights, usually in a setting of war, right? Well within the context of the show, there is a very strong distinction between these words. I won't explain the difference yet because it may be a slightly tangential spoiler at this stage of the show, but I'd just say keep an eye out for these words and just understand that they don't mean the same thing. I completely understand being confused by this bit, I don't know if it's a lost in translation thing or what, but I know in english it feels kind of stilted and goofy.
