Holden and Bill are based on two FBI agents who built a serial killer database shortly after the Behavioral Science Unit was created, and all the criminals depicted in the show are real criminals. It's incredibly creepy and wildly fascinating.

2020-11-25 11:59:23 +0000 UTCwith all due respect: criminal pshychology is overrated and it didn't improve criminal investigations as method of finding and stopping criminals by understanding them first, in addition it was determined that environments that create criminals will not be eradicated any soon, and in our modern times only thing that actually catches and stops criminals is tech, in age of tech "illusive" crime got eradicated(dropped drastically)cause those potential ones know that they'll get caught fast, cause tech doesn't need to "understand", and good old: "opportunity makes criminal" is the "Greater Truth"
