The Expanse 1x2 FULL LENGTH + REACTION & REVIEW

Comments

The rat in the breathable liquid just blew my mind when I first saw it because that scene wasn't faked.

I loved The Abyss! I think it still holds up today in rewatching it.

I will just comment on the details. Its always a pleasure to review how tight and detailed this show is! As a physician I am just guessing that some sort of dissolvable gum type medication is easiest to transport and preserve in space: light and easily digested without having to drink anything or even swallow! So I am guessing the piece of gum Holden pops in Shed's mouth is a mild sedative to calm him down. During the elevator scene on Ceres the operator picks a mushroom off of the pipe (presumably where water is leaking out?) and takes a bite. Even food is considered in The Expanse: mostly vegetarian and mushroom based again because of being in space ie no Cows! The Razorback is a racing ship and Julie is a racer. Dad threatens to sell the ship as a way of getting her to come home but of course that doesn't work. And I think one other thing not fully explained is the word "klick" which means kilometer in space. so 80,000 klicks = 80,000 Km. Don't look away too often! You miss stuff when you blink on The Expanse!

The attention to detail is incredible in this show. It's not as complicated as Dark, but you do need to pay attention to the little details and the dialog because the show is so tightly written that there are very little wasted dialog or throwaways lines. Everything becomes clear and question are eventually answered, until the next big thing... That was a cool scene that shows the exaggerated coreolis effect on Ceres. The asteroid is much smaller than Earth and has to rotate faster to produce the 1/3 gravity, plus it's centrifigul gravity, so everyone is sort of living in an upside down world where down is toward the surface and up is toward the center core. There's a James Cameron film called "The Abyss" and Shed's line "What the hell did you do to me?" after he was given CPR is probably a nod to a similar scene in that film. OTOH, it's probably a normal response to having someone beating on your chest and practically cracking your ribs, hehe.

Wohoo... can't wait for the next episodes. The first episodes of season 1 are a bit slow, lots of world building and character introductions to do. But it will now start to pick up... and then get better and better with each episode and season.

Holden is a bit emotional, he needs to chill, but what he did in the end was smart if they are sure that Mars blew up Canterbury, which was transporting Ice(water)to Ceres(Belt station where detective Miller is)which is now rationing and will possibly face protests and riots, that OPA(belt "terorrists")can use for their own cause, while their cause can be used by someone(who's connected to what happened to Scopuli, or not)for other bigger/different cause..

You're doing great! Few more episodes and you'll find yourself becoming really comfortable with it all. Thanks GW.
