Here he is with the vibrato of "Heisenburg" still wanting to come out and BOOM, he finds out the cartel wants him dead, Gus COULD kill him at any moment he deems he doesn't "need" him, his wife basically just took control of all "his" money and gave it away, Jesse is stealing and yet he still loves to feel invincible. (Even though his cancer just got down graded to him being in remission). He HAS to be in control. Control is Walts drug of choice. That's why the end to me seemed to show his "true self". He let Jane die and (deep down lol like way deep) he feels the guilt of that. Especially having had that drink with her father just minutes before. THAT'S the math he was really doing. I can't see how he in SOME way doesn't feel at least partially responsible for the deaths of everyone on those 2 planes (hence his rambling almost justification he word vomited in they gym), he got fired from his teaching job (granted he is making millions now), his family is shambles ALL because of his actions. To contemplate the "precise moment" it would have been "right for hom to die" is all because of his guilt and lose of control for all the reasons above. If he could just get that damn fly in his twisted way of Walt rational everything somehow just all goes away. 🤷🏽♀️ I could be completely wrong, that was just my interpretation of the NEED, the obsession to kill that fly. Walt IS the contamination he needed to rid.

2022-10-03 06:53:36 +0000 UTCMy take on this episode is that Walt has realised just how far Gus will go if something isn't right. Walt doesn't really care about a fly, but he's scared Gus will come after them if the batch gets contaminated. It's simply all out of fear.
