I love that bit at the end too, between Adama and Dee. I remember when I watched it thinking she was incredibly brave. She's actually high-ranking as I understand it - even though she's not an officer, Chief Petty Officer is a really high rank in terms of enlisted naval people, or it is in today's world in UK, US and Canadian navies. They had some very good military and historical advisors on this series, much of the military side of things is very true to life. I watched this with a former naval guy, a friend of mine. He was seriously impressed at the detail, which I thought was impressive in itself - he's a fussy perfectionist type and to impress a British Navy officer, you have to be good! He even noticed that at the beginning, some of the salutes were rather sloppy and he was critiquing them, which became a running gag ("That one good enough for you?"). The ship was being decommissioned - many of the characters were sloppy back then. Dualla is very quiet, but she feels similar to Tyrol to me - non-com but very skilled and well-experienced, as much as she can be given how young she is and the fact that it had been peacetime. It's probably a testament to how good a leader Adama is that she felt able to speak so bluntly to him. Not that it was easy for her - I wouldn't think it's normally in her character to do anything like that. I got the impression that he'd asked her to come to his quarters before to speak with her like this many times, leaning on her emotionally. I don't think he expects her to talk back, just be a sounding board for him to get things out. He has so few people he can talk to at the best of times and has been in a huge amount of turmoil. She's safe for him precisely because she's a far lower rank than he is, I think. She isn't a threat at all. He knows he can trust her at a time he trusts few others because of the betrayal he feels. The President, Lee, even Starbuck, all turned against him all at once. I love that she also knows when she's pushed too far - or thinks she has - saying children are separated from parents and he glares at her, silently yelling "REALLY?? YOU THINK?!" with his eyes. And that look in her eyes when Adama comes into CIC and says he's putting the family back together - gives me shivers every time. She's so proud of him in that moment. She truly loves him, just like he loves his crew. When he says to the new CAG that he loves everyone on the ship, he means it. Gods, the acting in this is brilliant.

The only thing I never liked about Rosilin was that she always felt that her decisions were always right. If she decided she didn’t like you, then too bad for you, you won’t go far unless you serve a purpose to her. Helo is my absolute fav character on this show, so I’m sure you can guess who I side with lol 😂
