FRINGE EPISODE 4x8 FULL LENGTH + REACTION & REVIEW

Yeah i mostly agree that a lot of shows get dragged down by forced coupling of their main characters, but i have to say that i really never felt like Fringe was one of those shows, i always felt that their relationship was well crafted in a very subtle way and never too much in your face like most shows do and even when the focus of the plot was on them as couple like season 3, it was more about exploring their individual personalities, it also helped that the two actors had great chemistry and the writing was never cheesy, so yes it's very easy for a show to become focused on the romance aspect and lose sight of its purpose but i think Fringe did a fairly good job at avoiding that and personally i can't wait for their journey in season 4 which to this day remains my favourite.

Yeah, loved the early and very subtle foreshadowing of Peter's comment to Lincoln about the death of DRJ in the original timeline. This is the episode that really brings home the impact of the timeline being reset in S4. There's going to be more stuff from earlier in the series being re-contextualized in this new season and I absolutely love it. I remember this season being kind of divisive because it upset all of the shippers with Olivia and Peter being scrambled. Personally, that's always been the least appealing aspect of the series to me, just like Scully & Mulder in the X-Files. Nothing sinks my interest in that series more than the will-they-won't-they BS that later seasons revolve around. There's something so simplistic and rote about "well, the two leads HAVE to fall in love with each other" routine that so many series get bogged down in.

Oh boy this episode and the next one are something else, this is the moment in the season where the true scope of the plot is revealed, and those last two scenes are mindblowing. I also adore the way the writers mess with us by making us think that we have everything figured out and then they smash us in the head with a baseball bat, also the hint about the return of DRJ was at the beginning of the episode where Lincoln asks what happens if you get stuck crossing between universes and Peter mentions the scene where he killed Jones, love that. Elizabeth (Peter's Mom) is always amazing in the few episode she is in, she always able to capture your attention and make you feel incredibly sad everytime she talks. Man the hype for the season is growing, can't wait for the next few episodes. Ah and also who the hell shot the Observer? :)
