I love Cora so much.
As a character, she represents everything I love about the gay community and feminism. She's a strong, independent, homosexual woman who believes in the best in people. She kinda acts like the coven's mom at times because she's usually the mature one in most situations. For now, she's single in the comic, but that doesn't define her or her character growth which is something I really cherish about her.
Her magic has a particular elemental affinity, meaning she's exceptionally skilled at nature spells and manipulating various elements with her mind. While earth and water spells come naturally to her, Cora's favorite element is fire.
A little background on this: Magic in the BKI universe functions like a giant tree – think of the traditional symbolic visual for The Tree of Life. Each school/type of magic has its own branch/root. Every person (with magic) has their own unique type of magic that they're just naturally good at. In other words, they're born with a specific type of magic that their soul's are attuned too. It means they can perform spells of this nature with relative ease. This doesn't mean they can only do one kind of magic, it just means they can access and learn the magic they're gifted at faster and more easily.
Think of it as like, a rough example of character classes and EXP growth in DnD.
In the BKI universe, magic fire (i.e. the blue flames) is an enchanted plasma, meaning it can open the fabric of most dimensions. Most portal spells involve some kind of magic fire to work, and Cora can manipulate these types of spells at will to teleport her wherever she needs to go. She also uses fire spells as both offense and defense when battling demons and the other forces of evil.
Hope you enjoyed her first appearance and introduction :) We'll see much more of her in the future along with Liam, Danny, and Mouse (eventually).
