Ubisoft confirmed this week that their Forward broadcast will air on Saturday June 12th, and will shine a spotlight on upcoming new releases like Far Cry 6 and "the game formerly known as Rainbow Six Quarantine" - which is oddly hilarious.
- We've already seen a bit of Far Cry 6 in action but little to nothing is known about Quarantine (or whatever it's called now). It was originally slated to release during 2020 before being pushed back to the current fiscal year, so it'll be interesting to see what the deal is.
God of War director assumes personal responsibility for delay following abuse
God of War Ragnarök being delayed to 2022 was obviously disappointing but certain folks have taken voicing their displeasure way too far - hurling abuse at Sony's Santa Monica studio.
- While the bulk of the abuse was focused on one dev in particular, game director Cory Balrog stepped in to accept any blame surrounding the game's high-profile delay. It's good leadership, but the fact that it had to happen at all is a travesty.
Stolen CD Projekt Red source code appears online
Back in February CD Projekt Red lost quite a lot of important information to a cyber-attack - including source code for their gamedev engine, and full; games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077.
- Following a failed attempt to ransom it back to CDPR, the data was reportedly purchased outside of a dark web auction. It's now leaked online via a series of password-protected files - and passwords cost $10. Yikes.
Looks like Horizon Forbidden West is on track to release to this
In a recent interview with Hardware Zone Mathijs de Jonge, Forbidden West's director, confirmed that the game is in the "final stages" of development. Though we're still waiting on a concrete release date, this bodes well for the game meeting its projected 2021 launch.
- De Jonge says that the team have successfully completed their "beta milestone" which is pretty far along in the development roadmap, and look to be focusing their time on bug-fixing and final polish. There's still a lot to do, of course, but De Jonge's words are very encouraging indeed.
