Calibrated HDRI's

I'm making some color calibrated HDRI's for shader creation/lookdev. Nothing new, but thought they might be useful.

Sharing in a bit!

Thanks for the kind feedback :-) Consistency is hard, as I described in the later post this morning, there are so many variables in play making it practically impossible to have perfect consistency. Every scene is unique, with different needs for various tonemapping settings, white balance etc. We can make perfect shaders in one scene, only to realize that they look like shit in the next (as it happens in real life too). It also depends on how you usually work. Do you have a favourite LUT you always use, your "calibrated scene" must also use the same LUT. I will definitely share a set-up scene based on how I like to work, but there's no guarantee that it'll fit your style of work :-)

Lucky for me the month ain't over yet!

Absolutely :-)

Willco :-)

Still an underwhelming lack of content for us loyal patreons. So far this month theres been : 1 Lut. A 30 minute video and promises of some HDRI's.

Has this been shared yet?

Is calibrating process something you can share? Thanks a lot

Super, this is very useful !

+1 please I'm trying to setup a neutral scene in which I could prepare different models for my library. The idea is to achieve some consistency between models and materials so they behave predictable in different lighting conditions. It would be really great if you could share some advice on this. Btw I recently joined your patreon. It's really helpful and inspirational, thanks for doing this!

Nice, could you upload pre set scene too with some optimised defaults? i.e something with decent contrast/lighting levels? I often find myself wondering how dark/bright a material should be (especially in relation to whatever RGB values true black/white should be in the vfb)
