Preservation group The Hidden Palace have made more than 700 prototype PlayStation 2 titles available online for the first time. The massive 900GB+ bundle of titles (termed Project Deluge) includes unfinished or demos builds of true PlayStation 2 classics like Shadow of the Colossus, Okami, and God of War.
- The Hidden Palace held a livestream event over the weekend where they spent around six hours playing through a selection of highlights from the preservation bundle - things like the E3 demo of Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex. A full list of everything included in Project Deluge can be found on The Hidden Palace's website - there really is a lot of gaming history that could have otherwise been lost.
Terraria has sold 35 million copies on all platforms
Chances are if you're even remotely interested in the survival/crafting game scene you'll have sunk a least a little bit of time into Terraria and, funnily enough, you wouldn't be alone in that. Terraria just passed a massive 35m sales on all platforms - the split is 17.2m on PC, 8.5m on consoles, and 9.3m on mobile devices.
- Terraria released way back in 2013 and is truly one of the godfathers of the survival/crafting genre, and a steady stream of stellar updates have kept the playerbase growing over the years. The games industry often fixates on flavours of the month like Fall Guys or Valheim and, while there is nothing wrong with this, it does sometimes overlook games like Terraria that are just quietly crushing it in the background.
Remedy weren't too happy developing for two console generations simultaneously
In a new interview with IGN Remedy's Communications Director, Thomas Puha, stated that the task of developing games across two separate console generations isn't the most fun thing in the world. He outlined that, whenever it comes time for the crossover between console generations, having to make sure both versions run properly "sucks."
- Puha went on to say that, even when things are running properly, the choices made in the last-gen version of the game significantly hamper what can be done with the next-gen version. It's only when the generational transition is complete that a developer can truly start to explore what can be done with the technology. So, let's make sure to keep a close eye on Remedy's upcoming projects.
Valve blocks pickup artist game from Steam after reaching an "impasse" with devs
Valve have reportedly refused to sell Super Seducer 3 - an FMV title where the player is tasked with, well, doing what the title suggests. Series creator Richard LaRuina took to Twitter to voice his grievances that Valve had the game's Steam page and 61,700 wish lists were gone - claiming that the game has been "banned" when he had been led to "expect either approval or feedback."
- Valve apparently aren't having any of this, releasing a statement outlining that an inability to reach an agreement after several rounds of resubmissions and reviews had resulted in an "impasse." Steam reiterated that they do not "ship sexually explicit images of real people" and that their decision is "final."
