The Demon Throne Series: Mephisto's Undead Army

MWTX actually finished this piece of artwork a few days ago, right after I posted Bael's artwork. I was a bit busy this week and didn't have time to post it, but now I do!

Mephisto, the Duke of Mist, is another awesome character. He's a skulking, stabbing, whispering little rogue; someone who commands an army of undead to perform his foul deeds. Mephisto will do anything to gain power, up to and including skullduggery.

However, Mephisto is not someone born with monstrous power. His signature ability, the power to transform into a ghost-like form, allows him to evade nearly any attack. Only someone of sufficient magical power can harm him, and even then, he often will avoid the full brunt of their attack. However, should someone manage to land a blow, they will deal grievous damage to the necromancer, since his body is quite frail.

Every Baron loses a part of themselves once they evolve to Duke. Beelzebub lost his sense of touch. Bael lost his, ahem... pride. Mephisto lost his body. Cursed to roam the galaxy with naught but his bones, Mephisto sometimes wears the skin of others, giving himself a ghastly appearance.

His signature technique, pain inducement, allows him to cause awful, burning agony to erupt across his victim's skin if he should manage to touch them. He first used this power against Jason in an early hallway chase scene, but Jason neutralized it with his wordsmithing.

Mephisto is an adept necromancer, one who surpasses his senior demon, Valac, in a great many ways. This is a matter of pride for the Duke of Mist, and something he whispers to himself occasionally to bolster his spirits. He might appear a mindless bag of bones to some, but to those who know him, Mephisto is a shrewd and conniving trickster capable of great evil.

Only time will tell what awful deeds he can perform. Look forward to a big reveal for Mephisto in chapter 3 of Cryopod Refresh!
