SECRET CHARACTER! Yama, The Emperor of Shadows

Welcome to another epic art post! Today's post is about a character whose details I have yet to fully iron out!

Yama first appeared in Route A of Cryopod Classic. He went on to become a fan favorite, only to kinda... poof away in Route B. I mean, he was there... doing mysterious, spooky things... but it just wasn't the same.

Davook was Yama's original name. He appeared throughout Route A as a one-off goofy little imp. He sassed his superiors and clearly appeared disenfranchised by his position among the demons. Even skeletons treated him like dirt. Eventually, he was captured by a crazed human scientist guy, he got experimented on, and this severed his connection to Satan's infinite power structure, allowing Yama to reap human souls for himself and eventually evolve into a Shade.

Once Davook became Yama, (and Amelia played a huge role in his transformation, mind you!) he became a force of terror in Route A's storyline. Not only did he absolutely beat the shit out of Belial, he caused all kinds of wacky mischief. Like all Cryopod Classic characters, though, he didn't really have a solid foundation, nor did he have an actual storyline, goals, etc.

Yama was... essentially... a spooky demon dude. Kind of a letdown.

WELL! I tell you this, readers, Yama is going to be everything he was in Cryopod Classic, and more! Not only has Davook appeared in the Ancient Era once already, but I already have some plans for how to evolve his character beyond the shadow of Cryopod Classic.

Unfortunately, beyond having some solid ideas for the broad strokes, I cannot yet elaborate how his character and storyline are going to play out. His powers will be much greater than in Cryopod Classic, as well as his role in the story, but aside from that, I simply don't know yet. Will he be the ultimate monster in the darkness? Yes. Will he be playful like Venom, or a sinister brooding edgelord, or a strategic thinker? I can't say yet. That all will come with time as we draw closer to the time of his first appearance.

Yama starts off as a little shadow behind the girl, then expands to engulf the whole room in darkness. Creepy!
