The newly reformed Lucasfilm Games will be working with the Wolfenstein devs on the game, which is an original adventure set at the height of Indy's career. Todd Howard is on the project as executive producer, so this is likely a huge project going forward.
- As the first project announced since Xbox's Bethesda purchase, it'll be interesting to see the scope and goal. The obvious comparison is Uncharted - is this an attack on Sony's adventure game dominance? Probably, but this may prove a challenge for the FPS specialists at MachineGames. Todd Howard is apparently a huge Indy fan, though!
Arkane Studios are working on a fantasy game in Unreal 4
Thanks to a developer's LinkedIn page, we know that Arkane has an 'unannounced project in Unreal 4'. They've also been staffing up lately for a AAA project. Using Unreal marks a change from their recent reliance on CryEngine and their id Tech-based Void Engine.
- Bethesda's studios are gearing up for a big generation, it seems. Arkane is a reliable dev, so hopefully, we see some info soon - 'fantasy' doesn't really narrow it down much!
Capcom's data breach is more severe than first thought
Back in November, Capcom was hit by a ransomware attack. The result at the time was a lot of leaked plans, but for Capcom, the personal information is of more concern. The amount of verified people affected has been increased to... 16,415, from the original 9. They estimate up to 390,000 people may have been affected.
- While we can cheer on information being leaked and celebrate seeing good plans, like Capcom's massive and exciting lineup, information breaches like this can ultimately be dangerous and harmful to a business.
Nvidia RTX 3060 announced with 12GB of VRAM for February release
Nvidia's lineup of 3000 series cards has grown again with the $329 RTX 3060. Releasing with 12GB of VRAM as well as the full array of 3000-series features leaves this a very attractive budget option. That's if you can get one.
- The GTX 1060 is the single card with the highest usage on Steam - a whopping 11% of Steam users are using one. That was a 6GB card for $300. The RTX 3060 could end up taking that spot if production lines can keep up. Raytracing and DLSS on a cheap, low power card could be a game-changer.
