Catherine - The Saint of Swords

Welcome, everyone to the artwork for Catherine, a silent, badass, warrior angel!

Catherine is an important angel to the mythos of Cryopod, despite the fact she might not appear in a large number of parts.

Much like Michael, her beloved brother, Catherine is a melee combatant. While her magical abilities are limited, her physical combat abilities are unrivaled among other cherubs.

Speaking of which, it's important to note her rank. Catherine begins the story in the ancient past at the rank of Valkyrie, an elevated position above Cherubs and Seraphs. Valkyries and Templars, the female and male equivalent of promoted angels, are generally more adept at the art of war than their peers. They are not necessarily more powerful, but they earned their titles via hard work and sacrifice.

When it comes to loss, few have experienced personal loss at the same level as Catherine. Much like Raphael, her body is covered in horrible burns, the result of her battles with dragons over many eons. Michael famously slew a thousand dragons by himself, but Catherine is no slouch either, as she took the full brunt of Jormangundr's final attack and lived to tell the tale.

Catherine's weaponry, when we first meet her, includes a summoned sword and shield summoned from Holy Energy. She cuts her foes apart with the concentrated mana inside her body, and that is part of what makes her awesome.

Later, Catherine gets a mighty upgrade.

Camael, the Archangel of Divination, smiths a mighty sword and shield for Catherine after she saves Michael's life in the battle against Valac.

In addition to her new weapons, Catherine is given an honorary title.

Saint of Swords.

The Sword Saint, now equipped with the Sword from Heaven, and Aegis, a mighty tower shield, is well equipped to battle the demonic hordes.

However, one must wonder what Catherine's ultimate role will be during the coming War in Heaven, and what repercussions her actions will have.

Finally, we get to see what Catherine looks like without a helmet covering her face.

Burns cover half of her body. Jormangundr's final attack nearly killed Catherine, but she fought with all her might, allowing Michael to strike the final blow. As a result of her heroism, she suffered agony for eons after the final battle. Dragonflame burns are permanent, causing untold damage to those they strike if they don't die.

Catherine lost the use of one eye, as well as a lot of striking power in her sword arm. Despite her injuries, she still remained the second best melee combatant in Heaven. Her vocal chords suffered irreperable damage, making her unable to speak.
