FStorm Materialism pt. 1 - Basics

Now the videos come in the wrong order :-)

Anyway, this was supposed to be continuation of the interior project but in the end of the video I decided to make the materal videos a separate series. One more video coming shortly and will also record a continuation of the interior scene today.

So here's the first one, felt I start with the basic stuff in case there are people totally new to FStorm. I'm keeping a list of what you guys want to see, so feel free to add more suggestions in the comments.

On the list for now:
SSS-materials
Stainless steel (covered in this video but will also be covered more practical in the interior series)
Plastic
Painted woods
Laminates
Gold/Brass etc (covered in this)
Plants and leaves
Fabrics

FStorm Materialism pt. 1 - Basics

Hi Johannes. I'm new member. Can you please reupload this link. Thanks

Yes definitely! Haven't prioritized it but maybe I should :)

Will there be a materialism part 02? ;)

Bergs Per-Olof

what's the software you are using for the textures?

Ooh challange.. Will make a try :D

Sorry of course I should have done that. Didn't save them but will redo and share :)

Great tutorial Johannes! Love your work. Just wanted to put in a request for wool materials like rough felt where you have some hair involved. If you nail this material you'd be one of few that will have a tutorial about it. Just a tip!

Hi Johannes. Great video. Can you not share the shaders with us?

Great Vid Johannes. Would it be possible to show in the nearest future how to work with Dirt map as well?

Any chance you could share the shaders you make in the video as you go along because 1. i'm viewing the videos on a laptop and so some of the settings are hard to see on the screen im on and 2. being a old fuddy duddy maxer i've never used the slate material editor and sometimes find it hard to follow your exact process.

Nice video. Really helpfull. Some materials I would like to see in Part two are Liquids and Glass (like a perfume bottle for instance). I always have a hard time making liquid in a glass look realistic.

Could you share where to find/buy all those maps? (fingerprints, smudges etc)

Wouldnt 1000 ior (to disable fresnel ref) on metals be more acurate? I learned this way with vray

i saw an official video about material in Corona 1.5 on their youtube channel and i pick up pretty interesting technic. The only thing you need to do is just to control the glossiness and leave the reflection pure white and ior like 1.5-1.6 for all opaque material except metals of course. it also gives interesting result in Fstorm too.

awesome! thx.

Let's not spoil raspberry)

There is an even simpler way as well, it's just a checkbox in vimeo making the video available for download. :-) However I decided not to, since if some jerk decides to reupload them on torrent, megaupload or whatever, it's: 1. unfair against the author (me) 2. unfair against everyone who actually pays for getting the content exclusively (all of you) 3. allowing anyone to join patreon, download the videos, leave patreon again, share all the videos to their friends, rendering the whole concept of patreon pretty pointless, and totally removing my interest of actually sharing anything at all. I totally understand why people would want to have them stored, however it's inevitable that they at some point start circulating around the interwebz

Johannes, is there any way i can download the vídeo to my hdd? i like to archive my tutorials, dont like the idea only be able to watch them online... it is possible?
