Ah so the meaning of that was that the future of WoW’s lore was kicked off by Sylvanas’s failings in this episode. It’s pretty much what bumped her off the traditional war plan & resulted in Battle for Azeroth playing out how it did. Things like the Azshara plan are pretty much a consequence of her not being able to win as originally planned with Saurfang.
As you said, Blizzard sure did reveal a lot in the novellas!

"The Future Began Here" has a lot of drama but is really light on context. Yes I'm an editor.

And yeah it's Blizzard's way of hiding a way-too-obvious story; really it's the stuff in Arathi that gives away a potential light undead race under Calia. Go to the Arathi graveyard near Newstead and start reading graves of potentil raisees.
