False Knees, animated
Added 2025-02-07 17:03:13 +0000 UTCThis animation was made by Robin Zimmer (https://www.instagram.com/robin.animates/ ). He approached me a few months ago asking if he could animate some of my comics, and after seeing some of his other work, I was really excited to see what he came up with. I've been asked a few times over the years if I would ever like to see my comics animated, and I've always been a bit wary, not thinking that they would translate well, but I love how this one turned out. I recommend checking out some of his other stuff, including collaborations he's done with other artists.
Here's the comic the animation was based on:
...which was an alteration of an older comic I made:

Maybe cartoon balloons, as it is in stills? I'm not sure. Good point, though!

2025-03-01 21:04:05 +0000 UTCThe animation was minimal and effective, but I'd prefer no words, just maybe background noises. It's like the difference between reading a book and listening to an audiobook. Two completely different experiences.

2025-02-08 00:23:36 +0000 UTCYeah, I kinda get where you're coming from. This is still a great animation, but it does feel like the kind of ... I dunno, "in-between" space that each comic panel provides adds to the storytelling of the original art. It's so hard to capture the reader's internal experience of the comic and translate that fully into animation, comics leave so much more to the imagination compared to animation

2025-02-07 19:47:10 +0000 UTCThis is such a fantastically dark comic! Though I don't think your medium can be improved upon. The oversimplification of your line work and watercolor makes me sad. The voice and the yell feel like they are from two totally different sources, the voice does not relay the jarring level of enthusiasm your character is foisting onto their compatriot, and the end cuts too soon, we need more time with our stunned bunny (maybe a blink or two). You are a master of your craft, and you convey so much subtlety and detail through your work. I feel like the animator was only focused on the movement rather than the feeling of this piece. I don't mean this as a downer, I'm really just hoping to convey that the level of your craft is beyond exceptional, and anyone's variations on your work would need to meet those same exceptional standards for me to be excited about it.

2025-02-07 17:23:39 +0000 UTCThis is so cute! Aside from the bunny kidnapping 😭🫢 But the animation is beautiful and flowy while the art still retains that False Knees charm! 💓
