March Bonus Story #1 -- Audio

Our first story of March is with Lauren! We get heated talking about dress codes thanks to this story about an OP who got turned away because of crocs.. I would've gone to bat for them and wish the coworkers weren't so lame.

Comments

I’m confused about why the OP was wearing crocs. Lots of businesses have a smart casual dress code which wouldn’t usually include crocs. If they had a smart casual dress code but allowed the crocs, someone should have mentioned to her that maybe they weren’t the best idea before they got to the restaurant. If they don’t have a dress code at work, then someone should have sent a memo about what to wear. All of this could have been avoided with some forethought.

Talia

Personal if I have to go home I'll just stay at home

carol shaw

Lauren is so wholesome 💕

Sara James

Look. I wear crocs around home because they’re so convenient. So I am not anti-croc. HOWEVER, smart casual or anything above a diner - crocs are a no. Are you a country bumpkin like I am on my off hours?

Sarebski

Then the flight attendant would police her camel toe. Lmao

Adrienne Coscia

Crocs are just disrespectful for “smart casual”. Lol. Crocs are like sweat pants vibe on your feet.

Adrienne Coscia

Rare time I disagree with the takes here! The restaurant’s dress code is most likely publicly available and honestly any restaurant that even bothers to have a dress code is almost certainly not going to accept crocs. Then to ditch the whole reason you were there to celebrate over said crocs is pretty wild. I think if the person lived far away making changing an unreasonable request would be the only reason to push back on doing so.

Kielsey

Did you not listen to the story or something?

Hailey Hoffman

I think it was a safety thing? If OP was serving or bartender you need closed toe shoes and anti slip

Ashley Blaess Blaess

Historically like with our culture you don’t wear hats indoors. Like “gentlemen remove their hats indoors” vibes. That’s why I always thought people were asked to take them off. Maybe because hats are technically outerwear? But forced to check it is insane haha

Megan Mulholland

ONE MORE THING- just with judging people with it being "fancy" enough- you touched on this in an episode too but it's so subjective and opinion based. for someone going out wear might be this designer dress and another person thinks of it as jeans and a nice shirt. it varies and even though for this story personally cros don't feel like something i would wear to this event, but also we are never going to collectively decide the "rules" where crocs aren't considered formal. yes most probably agree on at least some but there is variation

Hallie Boorsma

also sorry for so many comments but up to the flight attendants discretion without any guidelines is crazy. not only will the "guidelines" or rules switch based on person but it could also just be on their mood too. they could be just getting done and could take it out on people flying for no reason- probably the more likely reason for lauren is that the lady is just coping with something in her life

Hallie Boorsma

If a restaurant has a dress code, they're allowed to refuse service to people not following it.

Hailey Hoffman

you sound like a fashion icon

Hallie Boorsma

i also agree but it's also it's hard to police other peoples fashion choices and instead of trying to control (in general not directed at you) people and getting frustrated when you likely can't, working on just focusing on your clothes for that area

Hallie Boorsma

when lauren said it felt violating that hit. yes obviously there are so many things much more violating we do know this but it is like you chose this clothing and you are getting publically rejected for your clothes it is violating especially when it doesn't make any sense (it doesn't really ever but do you get what i mean- like lauren getting in trouble for such little midriff so it was more shocking for her vs them being like it's too short when it's a bra top

Hallie Boorsma

I’m not a summer croc girly, I just love sandals too much - however I LOVE my fur crocs

Libby

You're going to a going away party and wearing a skirt with CROCS! She is a asswholes for the horrendous fashion decision alone. You're not at a beach, you're at a retirement party. Someone's sneakers aren't the same as your water shoes

Cordelia Bell

Unpopular opinion probably, but crocs aren't smart casual. Op shouldn't have worn them in the first place

Hailey Hoffman

I thought the hats dress code was for safety purposes like they need to be able to identify someone on the security cameras if there was a robbery or shooting

Lauren

Lauren, instead of zipping up your sweater, you should’ve just pulled your pants literally up to under your boobs LMAO no midriff

Syriah

I don’t know…I think crocs could be a valid dress code violation…I feel like crocs would only ever be appropriate if there was no dress code at all 😂

abbey

My dress code story (and don’t judge my style choices, it was early 2000s and middle school 😂) - I wore a blue Jean skirt with black leggings underneath cause it was fall (and again early 2000s middle school). Apparently my skirt was too short still, even though I had leggings on underneath. So they made me switch to a literal white lab coat that was technically SHORTER than my skirt but was apparently “more dress code appropriate” Thankfully I had my Limited Too hoodie to wear over the top part, so it just looked like I was wearing a cute white skirt and literally no one could tell it was actually a lab coat 😂

Christy

Same!

Christy

Loving the Lauren content 🥰
