Progress Report

Howdy Y'all,

Super brief progress report tonight. Just letting you know what the plan is.

The technical work for the most part is going to be rolled into the next major build, version 0.30. I intend to release this in BETA sometime next month but let's see how we go. In the interim, I hope to drop 0.25b (and 0.24.1b for Public) in the next couple of days. This update will include a couple of the basic features back-ported for compatibility reasons. One is the compatibility system itself which makes sense to be included in this update as it will resolve the crash some users were experiencing. Another is a backend change to our save game system. While the front end changes will largely be kept for 0.30, as of these new minor versions, additional data will be saved alongside your save files. This is compatibility data, and will be used for major version updates where existing save files are no longer compatible...

...you know, like 0.30. Yeah, it won't touch most old save files and the tools and documentation provided by Ren'Py on how the save system can be interacted with aren't great. One of the custom functions we built for 0.30 laid the groundwork for including additional data in save files and we've subsequently developed that system. This means that saves produced by 0.25a will not be compatible with 0.30 at all, but saves produced by 0.25b will make use of our new system. Your save file will essentially be rebuilt in 0.30 using the additional data we've stuck in the file - everything should remain intact, although you'll be restarting from a recent checkpoint (There are several within each day - this isn't a major). 

Anyway, like I said, hope to have that smaller update out soon. Make sure you all download it and re-save any save files you'd like to keep otherwise they'll become useless as of 0.30's release. Once that bad boy is out, Day 15 takes priority for the rest of the month. I'll check back in once I have more news.
