I had hoped to start on Day 14 in the weekend just gone, however that didn't end up happening. You see, Day 14 is something of an in-between day. I can't really go more into detail about this due to spoilers, but you'll see what I mean when you play the next build! Basically, Day 14 is a limbo day - our hands are largely tied in terms of our main plots, waiting on a certain series of events to take place. The key events are expected to unravel on Day 15 and 16, however there was one small piece earmarked for Day 14.
You see, here's the thing. We just couldn't come up with anything that quite felt right. We had several sequences planned out, but... something felt missing. We had a planning session on the Saturday night trying to overcome this, yet we only found ourselves more and more stuck. I wanted to include at least part of Day 14 in this upcoming release, so time was off the essence... alas, that did not quite pan out.
Still hoping to squeeze some after-work writing sessions in, CurryCatz and I (with Kronos' absence) reconvened to discuss the Day when CurryCatz threw out an idea he had that he was uncertain about. As it would happen, I had a similar idea, one I had already largely discounted due to my own uncertainty. But when life gives you lemons...
So, that's where things got weird. The more we talked about it, the more we convinced ourselves. Problem being, our uncertainty was with good reason. We're playing with fire... and yet, we've both agreed that we want to give it a shot. I guess we're both just hoping we don't get burned. And the weirdest bit? If we go ahead with this, which it looks like we will be, that one earmarked piece of plot gets shifted back to Day 15 anyway...
So in terms of what the May release will contain, it's hard to say right now. We're close to the deadline, and there's still so much to be done... CurryCatz in particular has had an incredibly busy month animating the sex scene on Day 11, preparing several new CG's, finishing up Glenn's sprite and more. It's looking close and I'm crossing my fingers and toes that we can roll this one out in time. The beginning of this month coming is unusual in that the May build is due on Sunday, yet from Tuesday, I have six days straight off of work. With that in mind, I may choose to push the Patreon build back just a tad and use a couple of those days to perfect it. To be clear, this is far from a definite, and will only be done if we feel it's absolutely necessary, I'm just keeping you guys in the loop that it's a possibility.
With that in mind, the hope is that two thirds of Day 14 will launch as part of the May build. We'll have our hands full next month with 15 and 16, so getting 14 mostly out of the way gives us more time to get those days right - we're gonna need it! If we manage to do this, what happens in Day 14 will give you an idea of just what this crazy idea of ours might have been. You miss all the shots you don't take, sooo... we're goin' for it. Buckle up!
As D-Day draws closer, I'll keep you guys in the loop to how all of this is going and let you know what the plan is.
