2023-12-01 02:58:35 +0000 UTCAs someone who has been through IVF, I can tell you it is a very expensive and often very painful and emotionally draining journey (granted I have infertility so a fertile person doing IVF will have a much easier time). The one thing you have to consider with IVF is that even in countries where sex selection is legal (it’s not in my country) you’re still not guaranteed a certain sex. For example if you go through the whole process trying to have a boy, and you have five viable embryos, they might all be girls, and then you have to not only decide whether you’re going to roll the dice again, but also what to do with the female embryos (donate, discard, use, etc.). Even if you get 1-2 male embryos from that round, they might not implant, so then it goes into the discussion again of what to do with the remaining female embryos. It’s a really complex and interesting topic!
