So hear me out. Not everyone at a wedding gets a plus one. I would only offered them to people who weren’t part of my other circles so they would have someone besides me at the wedding. Our wedding was small so we got to spend time with all of the people there, but at a lot of weddings that’s not the case. If someone has a known longterm spouse I personally addressed it to both of them. However, this is a person who is dating this persons PARENTS, and they haven’t hardly even met them. All they know is there’s some dude sleeping in their old room. Meeting and getting to know this person at my wedding would be super uncomfortable, and it might be too short notice to get to know them before the wedding. The parents are being unreasonable by refusing to go given the circumstances. If this person is actually an equal spouse that they love, they should have expressed that and tried to get their kid to get to know them long before now. Certainly before demanding they go to the wedding.
