It’s utterly bizarre that a parent would see their child as “too old” to receive love and affection. I really believe this kind of thing is a result of how our society treats sex and girls specifically. If you ask yourself why you think it’s “weird” to give your kid physical comfort, I feel like the only reason you’d be able to come up with is that it feels in some way sexual. Otherwise I don’t see what the problem would be. Physical affection is NOT inherently sexual, ESPECIALLY in the context of a parent and a child. It’s the same idea as when people say it’s inappropriate for a daughter to wear a two piece bathing suit around her male family members. Those family members should not be looking at her in any other way than platonic. Women’s and girls’ bodies are seen as inherently sexual and it’s horribly damaging. Anyway, just felt compelled to have a little rant in a comment section that feels safe to do so. Thanks for the great content Morgan and Jerry! ❤️

Of course I don't cuddle my mom on the regular, but I still do when I need comfort. Your kid should be the one that decides when they're too old to show whatever type of affection.

Her actions towards her daughter were like a fork in the road for her daughter’s future relationships - she could just let her daughter withdrawal - but the long term implications of that would have been so destructive. I could tell by Morgan’s voice this was kind of a trigger-point & I respect that for some people / they don’t feel comfortable - but I also think those people need to evaluate their judgments and see where they’re coming from. I sat on my dad’s lap until I was well into my 20’s - hell, I sat on my grandmothers lap until she died 4 years ago. I get that from the outside looking in it can look inappropriate for a “grown woman” to be sitting on a man’s lap - but to me - it’s more of a signal to the dysfunction we have in our society & I hope enough dad’s and their girls say fuck it arbitrary expectations and keep whatever connection they can. Studies show that we are so isolated, if you aren’t married, and live alone - you literally never touch people. I never fully understood this until the pandemic. Now, whenever I see my dad, I make him give me multiple hugs & always want him to hug me tighter. Not the same as sitting in his lap, but it’s coming from the same place - you don’t have to outgrow your physical connection with your parents. It’s clear when something looks sisterwives/ sketch / but I have a feeling if we are honest with it ourselves - anyone who believes this is inappropriate is projecting their own exposure/ views on sex &/or insecurities.
