In the off chance that anyone is in a similar boat to the individual in the DSD story- please Google “DSD-TRN.” This is a coalition of hospitals in the USA with DSD/intersex (DSD= medical term, intersex=social term) clinics. Most of these hospitals will be pediatric-focused, but they WILL be able to point you in the direction of helpful information. Same goes with parents of children with DSD, please reach out for helpful information and support groups! Even knowing the lingo can be helpful in the pursuit of knowledge!

2024-10-10 18:24:35 +0000 UTCDSD mentioned!! I worked as an intern for one of my masters theses with one such care team mentioned. Unfortunately, care teams (like the one I was on) are a relatively new development. It used to be that the parents or doctors (sometimes without the parents or child ever knowing) would “choose” their child’s sex. This could lead to gender dysphoria down the road or, even worse, the need for intense hormone replacement therapy for the rest of the patients life (ex. Born with testicles, testicles removed, body was meant to grow up with testicles, patient needs testosterone therapy for the rest of their life). Like Morgan said, some people might not find out they’re DSD until puberty or later in life! I wonder if she read the paper published by my Principle Investigating doctor, it’s one of the most referenced in the field. I wrote a 50 page paper about the social determinants of health for this community- hopefully that will become a reference someday too 😄

2024-10-10 18:12:08 +0000 UTCOof, the intersex story. I’m trans masc and that hit extra hard. That’s fucking devastating and it makes me think of female genital mutilation?? And the comment about the uncle is so sad and fucked up too.

2024-02-05 12:11:18 +0000 UTCAbout the intersex story, you should watch freaks and geeks. It’s a great show from the early 2000s but towards the end of the show they introduce an intersex character and mildly go over the experiences of an intersex person, while they were given a surgery to be a girl at birth and it worked for her, the character still shared about her feelings on it and the struggles of being a high schooler dealing with this

2023-11-20 17:24:42 +0000 UTCI love your podcast and am scraping through the Patreon until I’ve listened to every episode. The only thing is… Morgan and Justin do not hold back on their disgust for age gap relationships. If there’s an age gap relationship in which both parties consent and are not being manipulated, IT IS OKAY! Some of your listeners (at least the one writing this) have had age gap relationships that were mutually wanted. It may not be for you, but that does not mean it is “fundamentally wrong.” When neither party is a victim, what is the problem? In this episode, a problem may arise between dad, daughter, and friend. But in general, your audible and visceral disgust is quite unnecessary. You don’t wanna fuck an old guy? Then don’t. Morgan and either Lauren or Alejandra can be quoted saying “don’t yuck someone’s yum.” Don’t be hypocrites guys. Inclusive of every sexual preference but this one…

2023-05-02 05:36:57 +0000 UTCIt only takes one story or experience to make you skeptical of strangers!! I was once leaving my bfs apartment at night and there was a man standing outside the keyed entry area. He quickly said to me “can i talk to you for a second” and i walked away saying “no im headed home”. Just his presence and approach freaked me out so i grabbed my car keys and walked more quickly to my car. I didnt want to turn my head back and look at him, so i looked down at my shadow to see one following me on my walk. I got into my car, locked the doors and started the engine and he stood behind my car, staring at me through the drivers side window. I used siri to call my bf but i should have called the cops. Shakily drove away and made sure there was no one tailing me. Now i carry pepper spray in my pocket, finger on the trigger anytime i go anywhere alone. So f-ing scary. I commend men who take into consideration that their presence alone can kick someones fear into action, and act accordingly

2023-02-17 00:49:55 +0000 UTCGoing back to the intersex story. I am currently studying psychobiology and developmental psychology and what happened to this person is EXTREMELY common. Especially in prior to the 2002s. This is due to the hormone stages in the womb that determine chromosomal sex, genitals, and what can be described as your "brain sex." Later in life the things that happen in the womb can lead to more feminine men, masculine females, and everything in between. It is all natural, and should be more normalized in society. However, we lack the mass education. David Reimer is an individual who's story is used a lot to educate the communit.

2023-02-08 03:35:03 +0000 UTCThe story at the end was so relatable to my uni experience! As a woman it’s scary and intimidating sometimes, so whenever I saw another girl walking near me and a man was nearby, who may not have even been a threat, I’d always ask if she wanted to walk together, even if we don’t talk and keep our earphones in - just so it looked like we weren’t alone.

2022-10-10 02:00:49 +0000 UTCto the story at the end, i was walking thru a parking garage at the mall at night and i looked back and made eye contact with this older guy and i mustve made a weird look because he immediately was like "im not following you, im sorry im just going down to the first floor, i dont want to scare you at all" and we both laughed and it was just refreshing and kind of him to apologize

2022-07-22 04:34:43 +0000 UTCI learned about different types of intersexuality in my physio psych class. Most are raised as female because the genitalia isn’t as pronounced at birth and looks more female. Most intersex people raised as female don’t even know about it until they don’t have their period and have to go to the doctor. Most intersex people are sterile because they have both, and both don’t work at the same time. However, as hit on in the video, there can be things done if known early. And as for sexuality, it can go either way! There is no concrete evidence about what gender intersex people will be attracted to :) also fun fact that female hyenas have a very long clitoris that resembles a penis. They use it to mount males, assert dominance, urinate, and give birth out of!

2022-06-30 19:32:49 +0000 UTCOn your final topic.. I was once walking home from work at 4am in December, pitch black. I can hear footsteps and jingling and it's getting faster and closer. Suddenly a man stops at the side of me and says 'i was trying to catch up and get past you so you don't think I'm following you!'. Then he looks down and remembers he is still dressed as Santa from work and we both have a good laugh 😂
