Changes to the iOS Patreon App/Fees

I just got an email from Patreon and I'm passing the info off to you guys just so you're informed about what's going on.

Apple is forcing Patreon to jump through their hoops in regards to app based payments on their iOS devices. One such hoop is a 30% increase in subscription fees, and every bit of that goes to Apple. That means any new subscribers using the iOS Patreon app to maintain their subs is about to get a giant increase in their sub, for the same content, and not going to the creator your support.

Edit: It appears that if you subbed via the iOS app, you won't get charged fees if you maintain that sub. It's for new subscribers, but they aren't clear if you change your subscription at all. I still advise that people move away from using apple products, though.

I would advise anyone using the iOS Patreon app to just go straight to the Patreon website and maintain your sub there. I assume you should still be able to use the app (I don't use apple products, so unsure about it). But you might want to look into it.

IN ADDITION: Patreon is forcing all of us to switch to subscription billing, which is actually pretty nice. I haven't had a chance to set it up yet. But basically you're charged on the same day every month that you subbed. For people who are already subbed members, this will stay as the first of the month. For anyone else joining or rejoining, it'll be the same day every month. (For example, if you sub on Aug 25th, then you'll be charged every 25th.)
