The main problem with electric car is the battery life means that it's not going to last more than 8-10 years. Then after that the battery would cost 20k to replace ( it could last longer with less use of the car but its still not going to last as long as a combustion engine car) the other problem is with electric cars like byd's the parts supply in Australia isn't great. I think that synthetic fuels would be a better option and getting governments to incentivise people to keep their old cars for as long as possible. If people Were to buy car they would want to keep indefinitely and then properly maintain them it would be much better than to buy a new one every 10-15 years. The big advantage to electric car is the lack of emissions where they are actually driving which makes cities cleaner even if a majority are powered by coal currently. But I think for the best option for the environment would be for people to just buy car they want to keep indefinitely. Also as far as Nissan skylines r31s 4 doors are still relatively cheap. Tho you would have to spend a fair bit on fuel , parts and repairs as they are from the 80s.
