The highlight is the Israeli kid who took acid during their Maths SAC and ate the paper. He then had to leave in Australia in year 12 to join the IDF, and now he makes guitars from scratch.

2025-05-28 13:00:20 +0000 UTCAs a jaded Novocastrian, this podcast has encouraged me to explore the streets of Western Sydney on more than one occasion. I second that it's a fucking hilarious place - every billboard and back alley seems to be a cosmic joke - and the food and people are full of extremes. Last trip was to Bankstown, we stayed in the hotel and ate Manoosh wraps for $6.50 each morning - I can't find anywhere in Newcastle that offers this. Between South-east Asians and Middle-Eastern folk, we were often the only caucasians. My girlfriend made the observation that only other white people around were homeless. We headed out to the Bankstown flea market (once discussed by Ali and Mis) and all the hawking was heavily accented in broken English. I found an RM Williams Drizabone with "FOSTERS" - the beer brand - on the breastpatch for $20. Can't wait to explore more suburbs in the future.

The MCC section is like an exclusive membership for the AFL, it's like an aristocratic competition for who's family can hold a membership and pass it down to their kids. There's a lot of private schools down here, and exclusive ones are closer to the MCG stadium here. A lot of AFL players come from the private schools like Geelong grammar or from city private schools. Also I think you have to wait till someone dies to be considered for a membership off of a long waitlist. They also get priority tickets to the grand final match first, so there's definitely a class system going on. It's kind of like an old boys/cashed up bogans and they're all getting out of paying tax. The personalities are like trying to balance not looking like a posch cunt cause they're at the football, but also looking like they have money
