Album Release: Emotional Anime on Piano - Vol. 3

It's done. I honestly don't know where to start with this one, so I'll start by accepting that it's finally finished! This album took me about two years to put together, and it was my most challenging release yet. 48 sheet music pages and almost a thousand bars; totaling into 40 minutes of intense piano music. The music won't release to the general public for another week!

You know that feeling when you can't truly relax because you've got some assignment or commitment hanging over your head? In short, that's been me the last couple of years with this project, and it comes from a pattern of taking on more than I can handle. There's a lot to be said for this topic but to keep it brief; I'm glad I'm finally out of that ditch and that I've gotten to a place where I can manage my time and projects properly. I got my life back in order, I started using task management efficiently (Trello) and I gathered enough experience to know the lengths and limits of my own capabilities. That's why you've been seeing releases and weekly videos consistently for this year. And now, finally, I can add this behemoth of a project to my lists of completed projects.

"Emotional Anime on Piano - Vol. 3" takes everything that I've learnt through my musical career and puts it to the test. This is especially true for my arranging skills, I wanted to see how far I could push them. The theme for this volume is "Courage and Glory", and it primarily features themes from anime that relate to war in some way or another. There's a much heavier focus on complexity and speed than in the previous volumes, but I made sure to include some calmer pieces to create a more comfortable pace for the listener. This is without a doubt more of a "for the listener" type of album since the pieces are quite hard to play, but pieces such as "Blood Teller", "i-AM" and "Viator" could be considered intermediate level.

I do not plan to keep future anime albums at this general level of difficulty, it is too tiring both for myself and for the aspiring players. And there is definitely a "less is more" aspect to many arrangements, that is important to keep in mind. But if you enjoy this sort of content from me please let me know! Or if you prefer the calmer/easier content instead then I'd love to hear that too. For future releases I will be leaning more on my previously used model for projects such as Weathering With You and Your Lie in April (~25 difficult pieces, ~50% intermediate and ~25% easy).

Anyway, that's enough of my ranting. Without further ado, here is the tracklist!

Tracklist:

01: YouSeeBIGGIRL (From "Attack on Titan")
02: Heroic Desire (From "DanMachi")
03. Luminous Sword (From "Sword Art Online)
04. Blood Teller (From "Future Diary")
05. Trisha's Lullaby (From "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood")
06. i-AM (From "Blue Exorcist")
07. Requiem of Silence (From "Re:Zero")
08. Battleground (From "Vinland Saga")
09. Tanjiro's Song (From "Demon Slayer")
10. Viator (From "Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms")

A few of the sheets need a bit more engraving work, but it's all there. MP3 and PDF files for every single song! As usual for these, the artwork was masterfully drawn up by Phil Dragash, and in addition to Levi there's a bunch of easter eggs spread throughout the artwork in the form of heroic weapons. See if you can identify them all!

I hope you'll all enjoy this release and look forward to what I have in store for this month's main arrangements. Until then, have a good one!

(Honestly, still can't believe I finally finished it.)

Your most difficult arrangements so far for sure. Nowhere near my domain of difficulty haha

Impressive achievement from the perspective of mastering the instrument. Nothing here I’d listen to more than once, but appreciated none the less.
